Business ethics in eCommerce and eMarketing
Humane Touch of the Virtual Reality: During my years of teaching English and Latin literatures, one of the favorite books my students loved to discuss is “The Prince” of Machiavelli. The Real World of a Hotelier

He must have the facility to entertain Prime Ministers, Princes of industry, pickpockets, gamblers, bookmakers, pirates, philanthropists, posies and prudes. He must be on both sides of [...]

Anna vs Wizzair
Wizzair and me, we’re not getting along too well. We’ve never been close, but these days things are bad. Really bad. I’d successfully avoided flying Wizzair whenever possible, but last week I had no choice. Male-reproductive-organ pumps? Passports? Luggage? Money? How are people forgetting these things? I am surprised how people assume it is the hotel’s fault for these things being left behind and that there is no chance the guest is wrong and left the items elsewhere. When the item doesn’t show up, the thought does creep up about whether or not the guest is trying to scam you. “Hi, yes, um..my name is Mr. Smith and I stayed in room 211 last night. I left $150 on the bed-side table, can you mail it back to me?” One of the most common lines I hear from guests regarding lost-and-found is “I don’t want to point fingers at the staff, but I know exactly where I left it.” Well then you shouldn’t have left it there! Take some responsibility and chalk the loss up to irresponsibility. I am not saying every employee is perfect, but most 20+ year-employees are not going to risk their job on a phone charger.
FYI- never tell a guest you have their item just because you see it logged, make sure you physically have the item first. Otherwise it may cost the hotel $600 and earn you a trip to the GM’s office.
